I hate writing blog posts!
Yep, I said it.
I love writing. I love creativity. I love visibility and passion and supporting entrepreneurs and providing valuable content…
But I freaking hate writing blog posts.
I will literally clean the toilet, bake an extravagant gluten-free treat, and go on a 7-hour beach adventure to avoid sitting down and getting my thoughts to become orderly on a page.
And what’s worse, for a long time, I’ve felt shame about it.
Not only about the blog post part (since as entrepreneurs, we gotta get our message out in the world)… but also about the hatred behind it.
We aren’t “supposed” to hate things.
Dislike? Okay, that’s acceptable. But hate? Too strong.
HATE.
Even reading that word sends a shockwave through my system. It’s a powerful word.
And when you’re a spirit-led person, like we are, the word hate can be a shameful sticking point.
We’re told that we need to love, not hate.
We’d rather meditate than hate.
We’re supposed to do our gratitude practice when we’re feeling blue.
And sometimes… when we feel really hateful, vengeful, or full of rage…
We’re mad at ourselves for hating.
But what if we could simply observe our relationship with this 4-letter word a little more?
What if we could shine our presence into the shameful part of us that HATES?
We all have it. That little black nugget inside that roars its ugly head on occasion.
I love to ask my clients about hate.
What do you HATE? What do you absolutely hate about this world? Your industry? Your LIFE? Your business? YourSelf?
How can we alchemize something if we don’t own it?
How can we transform hate into love if we don’t recognize it’s existence?
And most importantly… how can we acknowledge that all of our feelings, experiences, and all of our SELF is worthy if we maintain the shame and illusion around our feelings of hatred?
My point is… we can’t.
What if your hatred can be beautiful? What if your hatred can lead to love? What if your hatred IS love, already?
It’s so important to give breath to that which is truly inside of you… perhaps lurking silently or maybe even spitting fire.
When you breath into it and relax into the fact that you have permission to hate, for a little while at least, you can begin to see that which you could never have before.
For a long time, I struggled through writing blog posts.
I told myself to “just get over it”. To look on the bright side, suck it up, it could be worse. Hint: All things we tell ourselves when our intuition is actually giving a big red HATE warning sign.
Until there came moment when I hated it so bad, I couldn’t see anything else.
In that moment of incredible anger and hatred, of a magnitude totally disproportional to writing a few hundred words, I realized something.
I realized that ONLY once we acknowledge our hatred can we then begin to alchemize it into something helpful.

It was only once I owned up to the fact that writing was such a struggle for me that I came to the realization that I could do things a different way.
We are entrepreneurs. We get to make the rules, remember?
And my rules are to create things with love, by love, and for love.
From next week until the foreseeable future, that will mean VIDEO love notes to you!!
That’s right! Soul Fire TV episodes will hit your inbox each Wednesday, followed by a conversation thread over in the Soul Fire Mastermind, so we can chat about all things you + your brand.
I’M SO EXCITED ABOUT IT! 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂
And guess what?
I never would have started filming if I didn’t acknowledge that I hate writing blog posts.
So, I have an important question for you.
What do you HATE about your industry? Business? Life? Self? Environment?
Listen to your intuitive hits and call it like it is, between you and me, here and now.
It doesn’t mean you’re a bad person or that you’ll always hate that situation, person, feeling, thing.
It means you can now figure out the lesson. The golden nugget inside your hatred.
Here’s to sitting with the H-word.
In love and guts,
p.s. Come on over to the Conversation Thread now! Starting next week we’ll be rollin’ with videos, new branding, and some exciting gifts… come take a sneak peek!
