At times, life can feel like everything is just, RIGHT!
It’s all in place, you’re where you need to be, at the right time, with the right people. It’s almost too good to be true!
And we all know that other times it’s like a series of slaps in the face.
Oh, you’re late? Well you’re also not going to have change for the meter, oh, and that bus is going to drive quickly by you and splash you with muddy water, OH, and during that struggle to clean yourself off/find quarters, that’s right, you’re dropping your cell in the puddle. COOL BEANS.
I’ve been reading all sorts of fantastic articles on positive psychology and the power of positive thinking. They all make SENSE, ya know? Things are going well and I’m like, oh hell yeah it’s my smiley attitude that’s making this happen.
So what happens when the coaster makes a down-turn? It can be a pretty hard hit! Perhaps you smile and bear it, or say something along the lines of, “Everything happens for a reason.”
And sometimes you just want to revel in your own misery. I personally don’t buy into everything happening for a reason, what I say instead is:
Life happens, and then you deal with it.

No matter who you are or what you do, no matter how good your heart is or how much you care for people, life happens. And even though at times it can feel like the end of the world, you just deal with it. You continue living.
Recently, a series of strange events occurred that left me in this sort of state, wondering if my mental power had brought these things upon me, or if it was some sort of test.
I felt badly about feeling badly!
And then, a wise friend of mine said: “It’s OKAY to be upset and complain.” After all those positive blogs (which I love, BTW), it was actually a breath of fresh air. It IS okay to feel your feelings, and shutting them away is never going to make it any better. Like, duh.
So, instead of pasting on a fake face, I groaned, I mumbled, I even whined a bit. And then I got on my phone and used this really fantastic app that magically makes things 5 million times better.
No, it’s not some costly, weird anxiety medicine app. It’s iMuseCubes, which you can read more about here. You shake your phone, and it “rolls the dice” and gives you a motion and a sound. We whooped, howled, twisted, and danced our way through quite a few phone shakes.
Super duper simple, and yet my mood improved dramatically. And then, as life tends to do, the shit hit the fan and there was more bad news. But at the end of the day, the upturn in my mood from simple movements and sounds made dealing with the news so much better. It may sound silly, but think about it.
End of the story: Not everything is always going to go your way all the time. And that’s how life works!
It’s okay to be upset about things not working out, or having your hopes dashed a bit. But it shouldn’t knock you off course completely.
When bad things happen, it tends to multiply, so your best course of action is to groan and grumble yourself out, then do something funky and hilarious that you love to get that mood up, cause you’re going to get through the down-swing much faster with a sense of humor and a good rush of endorphins!
Here’s to you! Go jump and growl and watch how it improves your mood and ability to deal with the shit!
In love and guts,
Now, I’d love to know in the comments:
Have you ever gotten bad news after a really good workout? Did you react the same way as a time when you were less active? Have you ever gone through a state change and had it affect your mood? Let me know in the comments!
